Now a days, there are lots of commercials that are shown on the television. There are so many ads that we just give up on looking or watching every single one of them. Why is it that we don't likes ads? Why do people switch changes rather than watching a 30 second commercials. What is the truth behind those attractive products and description of the ad?
I've realized that the commercial used an advertising technique that uses testimonials. Meaning that the commercial contains people talking how great the product is, or what a difference it could make. Commercials are not supposed to hire people to say good things about their product. Although I am not sure whether or not they hired those people, but how can everyone think the same out of that crowd? Everyone thinks that the guy looks way more manly with their beside him. I think that it is very unfair because the people can't express their own thoughts because the company are paying them. This commercial also uses snob appeal, because it explains how their product can make the man look more appealing.
I think it is offensive because it is not realistic to say that a product could make a such great difference between a human being. If the person looks the same, then how does the car beside him make him more appealing. I think they are stereotyping in this commercial because they are spreading the message that a car can make others judge a person differently. We are great just the way we are. Why do we have to spend money to buy material items that doesn't change ourselves at
all?
Overall I find this commercial high offensive because they are saying that their product can help us look better. In fact the car has nothing to do with making a person look more manly or not. I think this commercial is used to trick people who has low self-esteem because those are the people who wants to look better or feel smarter. I think that commercials can be enjoyable to watch, but they shouldn't be offensive towards its viewers or others. Nothing is going to change after getting the jeep because the people who expresses their opinions in the commercial are lying.
In your post you should add in the actual commercial so that the reader can understand what your talking about more than just you explaining it and I'm pretty sure that you have to cite the photo that you used?
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your point about spending money on material items that don't change ourselves at all. Commercials are often scams that targets people who will purchase the product in order to gain self-confidence. With that being said, I do think that the Chevrolet truck commercial held serious offense against men.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the fact that these commercials target people with low self-esteem. Its so wrong for them to target vulnerable people that will do anything to supposedly make them more attractive or a better person. I think that its totally acceptable that people are offended by these kind of commercials.
